An Embellished Gown and Lady Liberty Inspired Jewels for an Eclectic Summer Bride

So since last time I wrote to you, something big has gone down in the world of Tilly Thomas Lux. And I mean bigger than the fact that my mini Dachshund was bestowed honours for owning more knitted jumpers than the entire Icelandic population combined (I’m joking about the honours but this is actually true). I got MARRIED! It was the most amazing day and I’m now forever linked in (sparkly) matrimony with my best friend, which honestly is the greatest feeling in the world. Of course I wore a plethora of Tilly Thomas Lux designs along with my heavenly bespoke Halfpenny London separates, and I’m really excited to share it with you soon in an autobiographical real bride feature.

Today however, is all about Tilly Thomas Lux real bride Lucy and her lovely husband Danny, who married in beautifully eclectic style on 11th August. The couple chose the awesome Victoria Warehouse in Manchester to host their nuptials, its industrial edge set off oh-so-cooly by soft, atmospheric touches. Over to our lovely bride to tell us more.

“I love the combination of all things feminine and delicate, paired with something conflicting. Having a wedding within an industrial warehouse was perfect; worn brick walls, fairy lights and candles was always my dream venue. I guess you could say our theme was quite eclectic - from romantic lighting, to lilac floral arrangements sitting in tin cans, to gold spray painted dinosaurs on the tables. Even our cake reflected me and Danny as a couple - New York inspired with a Lego bride and groom on top. We even added a Lego Wilson the pug too! Everything sounds like it shouldn’t sit well together, but it did. It was just so ‘us.’”

I love to find out who my bride’s style icons are; knowing who the fabulous women are that they idolisefeeds the creative process in such an organic way. Lovely Lucy for example loves Marchesa, Dior and my all-time personal favourite, McQueen so we weren’t short for inspiration. Tilly Thomas Lux really does attract the most incredible brides, I feel so lucky to craft for such inspirational ladies and dreaming up Lucy’s unique New York inspired designs was an absolute pleasure. We settled on a regal, star-strewn crown with a matching necklace and bracelet of endless glittering facets.

“I discovered Tilly Thomas through the world of Instagram and instantly fell in love with the sparkles - I knew I wanted to wear Tilly Thomas as soon as I saw the head bands. I was honoured to have helped designed my piece (let’s call it Lady Liberty!) with Sally. Tilly Thomas was something I HAD to wear for the special day; the designs are so unique, just like every woman wearing Sally’s pieces.”

“New York has a big place in my heart - not only did it inspire me to pursue a career in fashion design, but it was also where Danny proposed. I wanted my custom pieces to reflect this amazing city and they certainly did that. The Statue of Liberty was my main inspiration as well as endless stars (you can never have too many stars!) Sally made the journey feel effortless, she was on the ball through out and I didn’t worry once.”

Lucy’s bridal style is absolutely stunning and I just love the way the shimmer of the bespoke beauties we created together mimic and enhance the intricate beading of her bodice, contrasted with an endless swathe of luscious satin. She paired her glamorous gown with ivory t-bar stilettos from Jenny Packham, beautifully embellished with vintage style silver flowers.

“My dress was something I would never have dreamed of wearing - I always wanted a full soft tulle skirt and embellished bodice but they just didn’t look right. After trying on the fitted fishtail Lazaro design I fell in love! The hand embellished bodice and thick satin skirt felt like a dream to wear. I am a follower of couture and to wear a couture design on my wedding day only made it that much more special. I can’t forget to mention, it was my mum who pulled out the design for me to try on in the first place!”

Lucy and Danny turned to photographer Luke Holroydto capture their day, who totally understood the couple’s brief for a non-traditional style, instead aiming for a modern, millennial look. He has captured the couple’s fun-loving personalities so clearly and while our lovely bride is desperately sad her day is over, she’ll have these images to treasure for a lifetime, with further promises to stalk Tilly Thomas Lux on Instagram for ever more, which we absolutely love! So many TTL brides wear their pieces again after

“Walking down the aisle and seeing Danny (and Wilson the pug) for the first time was the most memorable part of the day. We hadn’t spoken since midnight as I wanted to keep everything a surprise and I loved seeing them both in matching bow ties and for Danny to finally see my dress and accessories.”

I can just imagine the look of complete awe that must have appeared on Danny’s face as Lucy glided regally towards him in her sensational bridal ensemble – my own wedding ceremony is memory I’ll hold close to my heart and cherish forever. It also feels a little like fate that my husband(!) and I also celebrated our union in the company of our pup Walter, while Lucy and Danny made sure to include their dog Wilson in the occasion.

Well the next time you hear from me I may very well be sharing the details of my own Tilly Thomas Lux bridal accessories with you all! And I wanted to say a huge, from the bottom of my heart thank you for all the love, well wishes and congratulations on Instagram – you really are the best.

With love and sparkle,

Sally x
